Gavin Walters a.k.a. Asante Amen è un giovane artista emergente che ha iniziato dall’età di 12 anni ad affacciarsi sulla scena musicale jamaicana.
Da ragazzo aveva cominciato ad esibirsi nelle manifestazioni di chiesa, feste scolastiche, matrimoni e feste di compleanno e nella ricerca della celebrità durante la sua adolescenza aveva fondato tre bands, tutte poi sciolte, costringendo il giovane a diventare solista nel 2001.
Essa si è rivelata una mossa positiva per lui e nel 2002 ha realizzato il suo singolo di debutto dal titolo "RasTafari’s Love" sull’etichetta One Drop Music.
Il singolo ebbe una discreta attenzione nei Caraibi e negli Stati Uniti dandogli la possibilità di esibirsi in due shows alle Bahamas con Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica ed altri.
Questa esperienza è stata seguita da più apparizioni in Jamaica quello stesso anno, tra cui la più rinomata è stata quella per il concerto di Capodanno a Montego Bay dove erano presenti artisti come Beenie Man, Ken Boothe e Bob Andy.
Nel 2003 dopo essersi trasferito in Inghilterra per motivi di studio, Asante appena tornato in Jamaica esce con altri singoli quali: Party Time (Levetie Productions), Only Rastafari (Street Kid Productions), Save them Jah (Triple T Productions), and Live Together (Outta Town Records) quest’ultimo che ottiene un certo interesse sia in Jamaica e all'estero.
Da questo momento con il suo ritorno sull'isola inizia una fase crescente per sua carriera che lo vede aprire i concerti per il lancio dell’album di Natty Kings(Aprile 2005), oltre alla partecipazione alle celebrazioni del 60°compleanno di Bob Marley nel febbraio 2005.
Tuttavia l’esperienza più prestigiosa è quella al Rebel Salute nel gennaio 2006, dove ha ricevuto molti consensi da parte del pubblico e dei media dando una svolta fondamentale per la sua carriera di cantante Reggae.
Altri due singoli, "More Fire" con Jah Thunder e " Not For Sale" sono assolutamente due hit che rimarranno per molti anni a venire dei pilastri del suo repertorio.
Recentemente sono stati pubblicati "Getting Enough" che è passata abbastanza frequentemente in radio e la grande combination con Lutan Fyah intitolata "Nuh Fraid"
Asante recentemente ha firmato per la Musical Ambassador Records e sta lavorando per registrare nuovo materiale per vari produttori e si sta preparando per altre esibizioni sia in Jamaica che all’estero.
Asante Amen è un artista dinamico pieno di talento che segue le orme di grandi artisti del passato e del presente quali Garnett Silk, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear e Luciano e di sicuro è un personaggio da seguire all’interno del movimento new roots jamaicano.

Gavin Walters a.k.a Asante Amen realized that he had a love for music and by the age of 12 he found him-self becoming more interested in singing.
As a result, he began performing at his local church, school, fetes, birthday parties and weddings. In his pursuit of stardom Asante Amen joined three different harmony groups during his teenage years, but each one eventually disintegrated and this forced the young singer to become a solo act in 2001.
It turned out to be a positive move for him as in 2002 released his debut single entitled “Rastafaris Love” on the One Drop Music label. The single received mild attention in the Caribbean and in North America and resulted in him doing two performances in the in the summer of that same year with Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica and others.
This was followed by more performances in Jamaica that same year, the most notable being a New Years Eve concert in Montego Bay where he performed on the same bill with acts such as Beenie Man, Ken Boothe and Bob Andy where he was well received by the audience.
Asante has released a few singles since returning to Jamaica namely, Party Time (Levetie Productions), Only Rastafari (Street Kid Productions), Save them Jah (Triple T Productions), and Live Together (Outta Town Records) with the last mentioned single getting moderate airplay both in Jamaica and abroad.
He has also graced the Jamaican stage since his return to the Island by being the opening act at Natty King’s Album launch (April, 2005) and was one of the acts slated to perform on the 60th birthday celebration of Bob Marley’s life in February 2005.
However his most treasured appearance was at the coveted Rebel Salute in January 2006. At this event received an out pouring of love from the audience and he believes it has set the stage for his career as a Reggae singer.
Asantes’ current global anthems “More Fire” featuring Jah Thunder and “Not For Sale” have absolutely established his place on the hit charts for decades to come.
He has released two other singles, “Getting Enough” that is receiveing a considerable airplay on radio stations across the world and the big combination with Lutan Fyah entitled “Nuh Fraid”.
recently signed to Musical Ambassador Records, is currently recording new singles for various producers and is preparing himself for more stage appearances both at home and abroad.
