Attendevamo con molto interesse la cerimonia di premiazione del prestigioso e del più popolare Reggae Award. Più popolare perché, tutti noi abbiamo avuto la possibilità di votare attraverso il sito e di eleggere il vincitore di ogni singola categoria. Così siamo molto curiosi di conoscere i vincitori della 29 ° edizione del International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA), tenutasi al York College di New York . Tra le nomination c’è anche il Rototom Sunsplash, i nostri One Love Hi Powa, le nove  nomination di Queen Ifrica e le sei di Tarrus Riley. Naturalmente erano previste le performance live di tanti artisti importanti quali:  Julian Marley, Michel Montano, Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica, Gramps Morgan, Tarrus Riley, Allison Hinds, Barbee, Dean Fraser, Macka Diamonds, Winsome Benjamin, Brigadier Jerry, Mutabaruka, Amilo Logomba e la New Kingston Band.

E’ stato duro e difficile ricostruire i vincitori dell’ultima edizione a pochi giorni dall’evento per proporvi un anteprima. Ancora i dati non sono pubblicati sul sito ufficiale ma noi siamo andati a sbirciare nei giornali di mezzo mondo per cercare di procurarci non più le nomine ma le vittorie a quest’ultima edizione tenutasi il 2 Maggio.
Tre statuette sono andate rispettivamente a Queen Ifrica, Gramps Morgan e Michel Montano. Gamps Morgan ha battuto  tutti nelle categorie Best Song. Queen Ifrica invece ha confermato 3 delle 9 nomine. Tarrus Riley ha vinto come best male Vocalist mente Julian Marley come migliore cd, infine Elephan Man come Best Male D.J./Rapper. Allison Hinds come miglio voce femminile , Beenie Man come migliore  Outstanding Stage Personality – e come Consistent Entertainer il premio è andato a  Freddie McGrecor.

Ecco però l’elenco che abbiamo raccolto. Naturalmente appena avremo i dati ufficiali vi diremo cosa è successo nelle categorie in cui i nostri italiani sono stati nominati.
